Mannum Enduro 2016 Event Wrap Up
Mannum Adelaide Buggy Club Enduro was awesome, what a weekend for the # 57 team. Chelsea has been planning for a while that when she turned 12 she wanted to navigate at a club event and when we figured Mannum would be that first race, we set the wheels in motion to make her plans come about. Chelsea was very excited. Not wanting to dampen her enthusiasm but wanting to share the fun and experience around we also asked Monique Eggers and Thomas Tabe if they wanted to go for a ride in with Aaron, no hesitation from either of them, in fact you couldn’t wipe the smile from Monique’s face.
The Mannum race format is a prologue and 2 race sections, 3 laps Saturday and 6 on Sunday, wanting to give all 3 navigators a fair run we planned for a pit stop on Sunday using our own time, practicing it in the morning hoping it would be fast enough not to lose too many positions.
Track conditions for the race were awesome, no dust just a little mud! Well, actually a lot of mud. Fifteen second interval starts made it very exciting, Chelsea was straight onto navigating duty, calling corners and waving to the camera guys, it was pretty cool to be racing with my daughter.
We had a great run on Day 1 prologuing 2nd behind Carl in the #456 tough as truck, the Mickey Thompsons were going to have to work hard as the plan was to get past him. The Mannum Auto Centre race engine was running strong and got us up in to 1st at the end of section 1. The Mickey Thompson MTZP3s were awesome in the tricky conditions, hanging on in the mud and no flats over the rocky sections.
Sunday's race was one you can only dream of, fun, no dust, fast. Thomas was that excited that we got up to 200km/hr. Monique was awesome on the horn as we made our way through the cars. Well done to the rookie navigators on doing a great job, I hope we have you hooked on our awesome sport.
Thanks to the Adelaide buggy club for an awesome setup, ARB for some great prizes and well done on getting so many entries at a club event.
