Chris Western to tackle Finke

CW

After an awkward start to the season Chris Western is back on track for an assault on The Finke Desert Race in June. The first round of the Australian Off Road Championship, the Sunraysia 600, held in Mildura saw Chris suffer from uncharacteristic mechanical problems. First in prologue he had a clutch fail, but after an awesome effort from his team Chris was able to head out for the race only a few minutes behind. Unfortunately, mid race Sunday the racing gods frowned again with a rear axle failure ending what was a promising finish.

After many hours of preparation and updating worn components Chris is ready to go again and tackle one of Australia’s most famous and toughest off road races the Finke Desert Race. “We have been right over the Element and made sure everything is good.” Chris said.

Chris finished the Baja 1000 in 2014 in this same vehicle and the reliability that the Element buggy gives is world class. Chris will bolt on a new set of Mickey Thompson MTZP3s for Finke and hit the track hard.

“The new MTZP3 from Mickey Thompson is my secret weapon, this tyre just astounds me with its performance for an off the shelf 4WD tyre. I can hammer them all day long and know they will get me to the finish.” Chris stated.
